Senior Women 2011 Season in Review
The Senior Women Panthers started off with a bang, registering close to 40 women. In only its third year since the program was re-instated, this is a great sign for the future of the program. With women of varying levels of experience, ranging from National team experience to completely new to the game, the program entered a team in the first division of the EORU and the Developmental Division of the EORU. With the help of our awesome coaching staff of Sean Dunleavy and Blake Wilson, we were whipped into shape for the upcoming season.
Throughout the regular season, the Panthers 1st team was dominant against all its league opponents, often winning by scores of 60 or more to nil. The Development side saw many more close games, but showed great heart and skill and managed to come away with wins … Read More »

U18 Women 2011 Season in Review
From start to finish, the 2011 Jr. Women’s program was a tremendous success. After admirable numbers in 2010, the 2011 season saw our registration numbers grow to just under 50, thanks in large part to the recruiting efforts, visibility and high school coaching efforts of many of our Sr. Women (Kait, Joc, Ash, Vic, Kat, Jayme – thank you!). With a core of returning U18 athletes and a large group of U16’s, the stage was set for a great summer of club rugby.
From the get-go, our team focus was on having an enjoyable and positive experience and challenging ourselves to work hard to develop our rugby skills and game sense. Early in the season the Jr. women showed such commitment to these goals that we would often have two or three full teams subbing on and off during a game … Read More »
U18 Men 2011 Season in Review
The 2011 season brought with it a new team and a new attitude. After a tough 2010 season the boys came out in great numbers and ready to work. With two convincing wins to start the season against both the Brockville Privateers and Bytown Blues the boys knew they were on the right track.
Mid-Season brought with it, its typical challenges, the extreme heat and intense thunderstorm, with these challenges brought a loss to the strong Ottawa Irish. With this brought a feeling of disappointment as the boys felt they did not play their best match.
A mid-season overnight trip to the National Capital Festival brought the boys even closer together compiling a convincing record of 4 wins 1 lose and 1 tie.
With the renewed team following the Festival the boys had very compelling wins over both the Ottawa Indians, and the … Read More »
U16 Men 2011 Season in Review
This past season saw our club enter two U16 Boys rugby teams. We had our teams divided into First’s and Second’s. Both teams fought hard throughout the season, narrowly missing the playoffs by a few points.
One of our clubs main highlights of this past season was winning the 7′s tournament, the inaugural Capital 7′s Rugby Classic, over the Ottawa Irish on their home field. We also played in the National Capital Youth Rugby Festival. We won three out of our four matches during the festival. All the players who played in these two tournaments played very well and gained valuable teambuilding skills in the process.
Another highlight of our rugby season was when we played a game against the Belleville Bulldogs. Hopefully we can continue this matchup for many years to come. All in all the boys got to play alot … Read More »
