Senior Women win season opener

The Senior Women travelled to Montreal this weekend for our first league game of the season. The Irish, having been relegated from the FRQ Super League, were likely to be one of toughest competitors. With only 18 players making the trip, we still managed to put an extremely skilled and tough team on the field, although a little heavy on the forward side. The game started with us keeping possession of the ball for the first 10 mins, and threatening to score early. Instead, a quick turnover and defensive lapse caused the Irish to put the first points on the board, giving them an early 5-0 lead. Pre-Season Round UP

With the season about to hit us in full stride, we felt it was necessary to give the club an update of our first month back on the Pitch!

Staring with the Mini’s (our favorite group) we hosted our first session this past Saturday at QECVI, we had well over 70 kids from the wee age of 3 up to our contact group of U-12′s. It was a long cold day that ended in some warm hotdogs for the kids! A big thanks to all of the parents who lent a hand pumping up balls, handing out kit and cooking the hotdogs. Another big thanks needs to go out to Matt Dowling and all of the Mini Coaches! We are looking forward to another great year.

Online registration is now available here.

For the moment online credit card payment is still NOT available but will be soon. When you register online an invoice will be created and you MUST pay before your registration will be finalized. Cheques can be given to treasurer Sam Mclachlan who can be contacted by email at smclachlan8@gmail.com. Summer Club Registration Dates 2012

We have set our registration dates and dues for the summer of 2012.

Indoor Training now Thursday nights

Indoor training has moved to Thursday nights starting Thursday February 9th

Training will be held at QECVI in the gymnasium

The first Thursday will be 6:30-8:30, all subsequent Thursdays will be 6-8pm.

*Training is designed for ages 14+ and supplements summer programming but is NOT a pre-requisite for summer participation!*

Off Season Training Opportunities for KPRFC

In addition to Friday nights there will be two other training opportunities this winter. These sessions will be open to men and women sixteen and up who want to improve their fitness and their rugby.

1. As of Sunday February 12th at 2:00 PM one hour cross training sessions will be done at Kingston Cross Fit: Cost $10.00 for senior members & $5.00 for juniors per session.

2. Individualized Programs for weight training – a personal trainer from St Lawrence College will work with us. Times and dates will be every other Tuesday at the St. Lawrence Y from 7:30 to 9:00 PM. We will work with the trainer as a group and then he will consult on helping players with programs, Bring a notebook, pencil, and ideas of what you would like to improve.

2012 IRB Coaching Clinics

Intro to Competition:

This is a sixteen hour course. This course is designed to give coaches working with competitive teams the tools to support their athletes. These tools include practice planning, role of the coach, analysing performance and many others. There is a large practical component of this course.

The target of this course is coaches that are coaching athletes in the Train to Train, Train to Compete and Active for Life stages of the Long-Term Athlete Model.

The club has a program in place to pay for this cource to those who are commitied to coaching with the club.
